Elbee’s Blogger Spotlight: Spin a Yarn Crochet!

Hello-hello,

I’d like to tell you all about one of my top favourite crochet blogs – Spin a Yarn crochet! I first discovered Spin a Yarn when a friend of mine wanted a pineapple key chain for her birthday. So I searched, and Jillian’s was the first site that came up, and as soon as I saw that adorable pineapple’s little face I got to work!

So, while the diamond stitch was certainly a difficult stitch to master, when I was really stuck I emailed Jillian to ask for help and received an immeditate response. I think a lot of people have their favourite crafters they follow on Instagram, but when you get the chance to interact with them and they turn out to be just LOVELY! Yep, that!

After I’d finished my ADORABLE little pineapple, I started work on Jillian’s just as gorgeous avocado pattern, and then I made her Camilla the cactus. Here are my versions of her patterns below.

Just FYI, I tend to use Ricorumi cotton for my key chains because due to living in a small town there aren’t many yarn stockists and Ricorumi is the most affordable and abundant one we have. It also has a great range of colours and is sturdy enough for a key chain that will inevitably (for me anyway) get lost at the bottom of my bag, and have to be yanked out by an angry me rummaging in my bag in the pouring rain.

Now we’re into the festive season I’ll be sampling more than a few of her beautiful Christmassy patterns, starting with her candy canes :D.

And here are a few words from the lovely lady herself:

“Hi, all! My name is Jillian Hewitt and I am the creator, designer and blogger over at spinayarncrochet.com.

I was so pleased to be invited by Leanne to share a little bit about myself and my work here on the Elbee Creations UK blog!

While I love to crochet all types of projects, my passion has been designing and crocheting amigurumi. I have become particularly fond of designing amigurumi in the Ragdoll style, which allows me to incorporate intricate colour-work into a lot of my designs using tapestry crochet.

You will find patterns for all sorts of different types of amigurumi on my blog, including patterns for keychains, ornaments, pillows, toys, and more!

Do you like to crochet amigurumi? Have you tried tapestry crochet? Leave a comment below; I’d love to hear about your crochet adventures!

I am always working on new ideas and releasing new patterns, so feel free to follow along with me on the blog, Facebook or Instagram!

Happy crocheting!”

As you can see, Jillian has some really beautiful patterns on her website, and she updates regularly with brand new ones so be sure to keep an eye out!

If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read on my blog so far, do please follow along with and feel free to check out my social media, you’ll find my handles on the homepage.
