Crochet Crafter Granny

Hello lovelies! Here’s what I’ve been making for the past few weeks – the crafter granny! I’ve seen this pattern around Pinterest and in the various crochet groups I’m part of on Facebook and it’s so SO ADORABLE, I just couldn’t resist. BUT, there is a twist to this tale, I didn’t make her and keep her for myself. That’s right, I completely ignored the selfish hoarder voice inside my head screaming “KEEP HER!!! WE NEED HER MORE!!!” and I gifted her to my lovely cousin for her birthday.

The pattern I followed was by Zhaya Designs and overall I found it easy to follow. However, I do think that some parts were a little difficult to decipher. I say ‘decipher’ because I had to really pick apart some of the directions in order create some of the pieces.

For me it was the apron I had the most trouble with. I ended up searching for other examples so I could see what it was I had to do. This Youtube video by Amigurumis by Petas Ochoa was a big help, it does have English subtitles but for me it was just about seeing how the apron had been made which helped me to figure out what the end result would be.

She’s a very different shade of pink but this was all I had at the time and I knew my cousin wouldn’t mind. I added the little button jewellery myself, as she looked very bare once I’d sewn her all together. I added the scalloped edging around her apron myself which was just a very simple dc, ch2, dc pattern.

I finished with the pins for her pin cushion bun, and some little teddy bear buttons for the front of her apron and DONE!

Honestly, I’m so proud of her. It was so worth the time and effort just to see my cousin’s face when she unwrappped her. For me, amigurumi can be a little tedious, making up all the little components in the same stitch, keeping count with rounds and increasing and decreasing and then sewing it all together; it just gets very boring for me after a while. I always LOVE the outcome though, and this time I just took her to work and made her up on my breaks and such so it went a lot faster :D.

Anyway, I hope you like her as much as I do. If you’d like to see more from me you can find me on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and Etsy.

See you all soon!
